Painter Guide

  • Introduction

    First of all, painter is a mid-range physical class which wears cloth gear and a spray (2h) as a weapon. It has many CC possibilities such as various stuns, para, slow, increase damage on target and does also have some aoe skills. Almost all skills have a 15m range.

    Chains skills

    Further information

    - Like any class running forward will increase your skill damage, even for the ropes if you have runned in the seconds before.

    - I do not note the MP consumtion for the skills, since one of the basic skills does absorb mana all the time. It is impossible to get out of mana.

    - For using a strap skill the painter stands still since there is a cast, after that you can keep running, but your movement speed is slowed down.

    - I did not mention the skill shock remove. It is the same like for every other class

    - A target cannot be attacked with a strap skill if its already attacked by the same type of strap skil. In other words only one type of strap skill at the time.

    - A strap skill is a debuff on a mob. A target has a maximum amount of debuff that it can have. If your strap debuff will be replaced by others, the strap skill cancels automatically. This means e.g. in world boss fights, that these strap skills are almost useless.

    - In some areas (like divine siege or in dumaha) it is possible to flight. The passive skill cbt_fi_seraphicpower_g1.png for painter gives 8% more physical attack. In times of fixed values this is a huge push of attack!

    - Strap skills are not castspeed depended, but the teleport is.

    - The critmultiplier is 1.7

    - Strap skills have a very low critrate.


    Known Bugs

    - Sour Dye interupts anothers Painter Life Binding

    - Addional Dmg of Work Destruction is not displayed in chat log.

    Stigma setups

    PvE

    Single Target / Grp PvE


    For small scale PvE I think there is no way around 30% damage increase and i recommend the following setup:

    pa_rapidhardening_g1.png can be exchanged with pa_paintshield_g1.png, but i prefer glaze . I do not recommend use pa_screwpierce_g1.png since i does deal only low damage since it is magical damage. pa_targetselecting_g1.png and pa_stabstraw_g1.png is must have in my opinion.

    AoE (Inspired by Erufuun)

    This build can be used if you prefer to play on AoE build. It can be usefull e.g. in Stella where you might collect many mobs together with a glad or an AT and kill them at once. pa_paintpuddle_g1.png is an addional aoe to your common skills. And the vision stigma will pull the targets together. Meanwhile, I believe that his build is the best for ToC. I also like this build in group PvP if you have e.g. a Glad and/or AT in your group, which of course needs good coordination, but its fun to play.


    World Bosses

    For world bosses we lose advantage of the damage increase debuffs and the strap skills which is explained in the pve rotation section. Therefore in this case in makes sense to use the pa_rushofslime_1_g1.png vision.

    PvP

    For PvP its a bit more variable and depends on personal play style. There are different combinations possible. Here are two examples.

    Para Build

    In this build you have the major stigma pa_plastershooter_g1.png which is good for interupting the target or gaining time to get your skills ready again. In example if your opponent used shock remove, you can use it to wait till the buff times out. After that you can stun lock and kill your opponent. You can use pa_chargingplaster_1_g1.png to paralize the target, deals some damage or put debuffs on it, maybe even cover silence, and finish with pa_paintburst_g1.png which deals addional damage to targets which are paralized and stuns it. In this build you can also replace pa_paintburst_g1.png with pa_targetselecting_g1.png.


    Airbind Build

    With pa_drawingthunder_g1.png you have an addional nice stun skill. You can use pa_targetselecting_g1.png or pa_plastershooter_g1.png in the major stigma slot. This build also gains advantage over the target if the shock remove buff is gone. Use pa_paintfountain_g1.png and pa_aerialpaintshooter_g1.png to finish the target.



    For the normal stigmas it depends on the situation or instance. If there is possiblity to life leech take pa_stabstraw_g1.png and if not its better to take pa_ballooned_g1.png. For the beginning it is recommended to use pa_paintshield_g1.png and pa_rapidhardening_g1.png. If you have stigmas +9 you might add pa_paintshower2_g1.png or pa_repressedcure_g1.png can be useful in group pvp to encounter the cleric.


    For PvP it is highly recommended to enchant stigmas. The class does benefit alot from the 2 addional normal slots since there are very good normal stigmas.

    Please note that these are only suggestions bases on my experience.

    Skillrotation

    PvE

    In PvE it depends on the situation which rotation to use. If you are doing common pve like instances or open world farming/questing you can basically do what you want. You shouldn't run out of skills. Always debuff your target with pa_targetselecting_g1.png or pa_drawingtarget_g1.png first. You main chain also debuffs the target with -200 p.def. Your main damage skills are pa_paintshooter_custom_a.png, pa_sprinklepaint_custom_a.png and icon_item_stigma01_pa_hugehammer_g1.png. As soon these skills are ready, use them. The damage strap is 10sec cd, the front aoe 12sec. In between you can use your other skills like you like.


    At world, siege and other large scale bosses its another story. You lose your advantage of the strap skills. You can also forget to debuff the boss, since they disapper almost instantly or anyone else will use them anyways. So you just focus on a good rotation. This looks like following. You start to place pa_light_pouringscrew_g1.png and with the big CD skills like icon_item_stigma01_pa_hugehammer_g1.png and in between every skill or chain you doing you have to use pa_paintthrow_g1.png as a weave skill. By doing this you should still deal proper damage and not going out of skill.

    PvP

    Most important in PvP is to tickle the shock remove skill out of the opponent. As soon as this is gone, you win. So how to do this? With a high burst and combination of stuns. Here one example of a skill rotation:

    In this rotation you have (depending on front aoe daeva skill) 3-4 stuns and a huge dmg.


    Of course you have to watch evade buffs, shields, etc. As soon as the target uses shock remove, stop the chain and apply pa_plastershooter_g1.png.


    After that use pa_paintfountain_g1.png and pa_aerialpaintshooter_g1.png to finish the target or other skills.

    This is just one example. In PvP you have a high dynamic fight and its good to train against different classes. I hope with this you get an idea and develop differnt rotation.


    Some note at the end: even its very lame in my opinion, there is no way around pa_chargingplaster_1_g1.png. This skill is a guaranteed kill in combination with pa_paintshooter_custom_a.png. For some reason (might also be a bug) you can still deal massive damage on the target. In 1on1 Arena e.g. the skill is a must have to be able to make it to the top ranks.


    Upcoming Skill Changes

    Here is a list of upcoming skill changes. I also note down which update it originally was.

    I do not claim 100% correctness of the translation.

    Class Patch Nr. 14 (KR 7.2 - 31.7.19)

    Change for all classes in this patch:

    - Shock remove buff gives now 2000 shock resistance instead of 1000.

    - Kromede Minions stun effect consideres now shock resistance buff.

    - Sleep skills do not longer increase mdef of the target.

    - Feared targets are buffed with 1000 pdef/mdef.

    - The interval for all strap skills is now 1s (mostly was 0.5s or 0.3s Bof) DOWNGRADE!


    Skill Change Rating
    pa_paintshower2_g1.png The skill now dispells all (?) debuffs and then every 3 seconds 1 debuff for a 10s duration. CD was reduced from 60s to 30s. Upgrade
    pa_plastershooter_g1.png Duration is increased if upgrading, instead of decreasing CD. The CD was increased from 30s to 40s. Not really sure if this is either upgrade or downgrade. Discuss.
    pa_paintshooter_custom_b.png The pdef/mdef buff duration was increased from 7s to 10s. Upgrade
    pa_paintshield_g1.png The incoming damage will be reduced by 60% instead of 50%. The duration was increased from 8s to 10s. Upgrade

    failboat provided you the names of 7.0 GF translations, aka the ones we'll have in our client, while he did said names not name, refering to skill names even though he is wrong with 'private server' because the names you are using are from a custom english pak made by a fan for ppl who does not speak korean so they can play on KR.

    What is there to read? The skill names are the ones translated by the community (to play in other regions) an also used for certain private servers. What I'm saying, it's not official. I offered the list of official skill names that we have here and now... but I guess I should take it down.

    In detail, i played on official russian server. So whatever private server you mean probably took translations from the russian 7.0 version. So far everything is the same like in our version of 7.0 besides some text and special events.


    Even if you offer me a list, from my point of view since i dont know you, this list is even less official than russian. You probably did an extraction from the update or i dont know where you got the list from? I simply cannot rely on that.


    However, i will update the skill names after the update is live anyways. Just wanted to publish the guide so people can already read about the class during the maintenance.

    Can i realy rely on you? Because i don't want to change it a 3rd time XD

    Well, all I did was to make a script and run it after the update of the client was done and generate this automatically. If there is some error in there, it's probably an error on my (rushed) script or in the files. Other than that, I don't know, it shouldn't be different than live.

    edit: so far only one error at first glance. your 'create sculpure' has no name but it's 'New Work' (strange name)

  • Color Bomb should be heavily priorized for Single Target as well, if you ask me. It's a single cast and three ticks do more damage than Color Bomb.

    Color Grenade chain yields a pretty relevant PDef reduce, which should be noted.



    I see no reason to run Silence Paint in PvE. Do you find yourself ever using it?


    I was also thinking of giving the Gravity Vision a shot. What do you think?


    Edit: The more I think about it, the more sense it makes. Flash Portrait is fine, but Portait of Gravity Vision seems so much better than Flash Band on paper, I'm inclined to go for Viscous Color (which is another AoE) as my second blue Stigma.

    - yes this is mentioned in the skill list

    - silence does deal dmg as well with 30sec cd. what other skill you would add for pve dmg? especially in large boss fights where you struggle with the skills

    - i use gravity vision for large scale pvp such as sieges. i like the skill a lot bc it is 25m range and instant. so you place it somewhere where the other faction runs throw and they get dmg and get pulled :D

    - the blue stigma aoe can be nice for pve with many mobs, like stella. personally i haven't used it yet. but i can think of an pve aoe build. i will add it to the guide. ty for the inspiration

    Re: By noted I meant it really should be driven home in the rotation section too. The reduction is pretty significant, and I thought whether opening with that skill might actually be worth it (but it probably isn't)


    Re: It's less base damage than the "weave" skill. I haven't done much raid fights at attackspeed cap yet, but I presume diligent use of the the weave skill completely negates the requirement of ever using Silence Paint. (i.e. worst case, use it like SM used Vacuum Choke, but I'm not sure that will be necessary.) Push comes to shove, I'll use the Slow Strap for a tick or two (until it falls off) - which obviously is less base damage, but the defensive Stigmas are so vital, I think we'd be in trouble if we didn't use it.

  • Pdef debuff: I agree, if you want to go perfect you do the chain first. Like common grinding i dont try to have perfect rotations :D You will use it at some point anyways.


    Silence: Correct. Less dmg. But only a bit lesser. The big difference is, the "weave" skill you cannot use in running, which sometimes can be a disadvantage or even annoying ^^. Silence you can use in running and increase its dmg output. However, I added it bc there is no other good green dmg stigma.

  • Well the last green stigma is not much relevant imo. I would probably use the one, which increases Healing Effect in case of emergency (obviously if you heal more with your Tether skill, didnt test it yet).

    I haven't used but sounds like a debuff for clerics.

  • DPS wise, yeah. But we have two great, and direly needed, defensive green Stigmas for dungeon/raid content.


    My point being, I can see it being slightly better DPS and a bit higher QOL, but the upside is so small, I will not be enchanting Silence Paint whatsoever (until I get the PvP gear rolling). I'm not disagreeing with you, just adding my opinion on how useful the skill actually is :D

    I actually think the class can get away without the additional stigma slots pretty handily - in PvE at least. You were talking about PvP I presume?
