Painter Guide

  • It is about having Blow, the chain skill, more often. Is the lower damage of the first one worth having it every 30s as opposed to every 40s? Would you rather have a skill that deals about 6.400 on a 30s CD or 8.400 on a 40s CD? I tend to think it's the 40s one, but I don't feel that's absolutely clear.

Without reading your detailed reply with all those charts, I wanna say that after a simple math it looks like if the fight lasts longer than 5m, the 30s one will deal more dmg :)
in a 5m fight, the 30s can be used 10 times, so 10x6.400 = 64k, while the 40s can be used 7.5 times which is 63k, but since you cannot use it 0.5 times haha, it will be 58.800

So imo, in fights that lasts less than 5m, the higher dmg one might come with higher dmg output without taking crit into consideration :)

  • nice investigation. well, i guess i still will stick to sudden smash even if i get the others. pvp fights usually come fast to an end. and you would need the skill on +10 to gain 3s lower cd. i never got a skill over +5 actually. only arguement which could convince me if the stun is like 3s instead of 1s. however, currently i prefer burst dmg over all. especially in grp pvp like dred/runa. i still need to master this class, i consinder me as a noob in pvp :)

maybe against some classes it will make more sense to have a longer stun than a higher dmg.

in pve i stick to sudden smack. i have different rotations for any case of pve. i'm not going out of skills.

btw Erufuun whats your ingame name and which server/faction you play on?

That's purely based on the damage of these skills, and even more napkin-y than the math I did. What's the opportunity cost to use the shorter CD one? I guess it's actually negative. You can smooth out your rotation with this.

    Yio

Yeah, I guess that sounds about right. I wonder if we will be looking at higher enchanted Daeva Skills in the future though (with Korea having the awakaned ones at +15...)

    It's Monocolor Odin-E

  • what i would love if the class gets a bit more other skills so we can compete as a dps in large scale fights like worldbosses, altars, sieges.

i have to change my stigmas to be able to get into the upper half of the top dps table. on the pvp build i just have way too less skills.

  • Yeah, I guess we won't get that, though.

I added a few more figures, one for +0, and four for having these skills at +10.

It really comes down to whether it helps smoothing the rotation or not.

  • Sad to see the painter is already getting massive nerfs, painter was the only thing that got me back in to the game.

Yes the skill was a bit too strong but nerfing from 0.3 sec tick to 1 sec is insane, its way too much.

Maybe i should go back to my ranger, where i can see ranger changes if they made any?

  • Painter is way too strong, though, end while it certainly is a DPS decrease, having only this skill nerfed (for PvE) will not change much in the hacking order, I presume.

  • Nah i dont think its too strong, upper tier sure but op no way. The class lacks utility in comparison to other classes. Even as the class is i still think some classes like AT, chant, sm and bard maybe glad and sin too are overall better.

They made the skill useless 1 hit a second is too slow, other classes can use 3 skills or more in that time. And its counted as casting, if you use pot or anything happens the skill stops and goes to cd. I dont see any use to that skill after the nerf, only if everything else is on cd i suppose.

  • The class lacks utility in comparison to other classes.

Painter has the arguably strongest debuff in the game (Into the Black).

This alone is way beyond what some other pure DPS classes can even hope for, including Sin and Glad (who offer more tankiness, but less damage).

  • painter is definitly op right now. e.g. in stella i have more dps then rest of the grp. and it is far away from max gear.

even i play this class main, i must admit, nerf is needed.

  • pa_paintbeating_g1.png Blow, the chain skill, has a CD of 10 seconds on a base damage of 4.970, so you can use it anytime you can use either of the prior skills.

pa_scaringatk_custom_a.png Sudden Smash deals 3.171 base damage on a 40s CD. Each +1 increases the base damage by 31.

pa_scaringatk_custom_b.png Shocking Blast deals 1.350 base damage on a 30s CD. Each +1 decreases the CD by 0.3 seconds!

I think the answer is simple and it's also the reason why every single KR player out there is using the blue one no matter if it's PvE or PvP. Blow is on 30s cd. The change to 10s only occurred last week in KR so expect this change to come here in 8-9 months. At first it didn't make any sense that is changed to 10s cd since the first skill in chain never reaches that value (even at +15) but as we see that 30s doesn't make sense either if you make +15 the red one. Your decreased cd still puts Blow on 30s cd. And there is the fact that everything is about burst and most of the stuff never lives long enough. In theory it's like you said, it should be about the same but people prefer burst for almost anything.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

  • Some of you dont understand that dps is not everything and that some classes need to have higher dps because they lack everything else. Painter is not op, compare it to AT and its weaker for sure. Anyway thats just my opinion.

Resist/evade for 3s, root, para beam, silence, teleport forward, ambush, hp drain, aoe, what do you mean painter lack everything else?

+ it's literally top dps according to aioninfo

You're right. Pure dps that offer next to nothing besides dps to the group should be tier 1 dps in pve: Sin, Sorc, Ranger, Gunner.

SM and Painter offering the strongest debuffs in the game should be tier 2 dps tops as well as classes with strong defensive support (including massive self sustain).

    sick of .sig

  • I would say mastarius is the best :D
Personally i got hamerun, still happy with it.

I've tested multiple forms on painter, and the cast speed is useful only for the tunnel, lasers being casted as fast with kaisinel as without form.

  • Prigga is by far our best legendary Transformation, yes?

Sita got more speed, didn't it?

Without reaching attackspeed cap, it's worthless.

Painter is happy about a little bit of castspeed in addition to the attackspeed.

    That's strictly PvE obviously.

  • Without reaching attackspeed cap, it's worthless.

Our Painter got Sita and he never complained about "max attackspeed". So I think its possible to reach it with Sita.
