Flash in game

  • Good morning, *Sorry for the mistakes, I speak via translator*

I picked up Aion classic again after stopping the game for several months.

In the meantime I changed my configuration.

    CPU: Amd 7800x3d

    GPU: Rx 7900xtx

    Ram: G.skill 32gb ddr 5

    SSD: Samsung 2TB 990 pro

    Screen resolution: 1440p

    OS: Windows 11 pro

So I set all the graphics to maximum without any problem. All my drivers are up to date and Windows too, I have no problem with any other game.

But I constantly have a white flash every 10 to 30 seconds of gameplay that covers my entire screen for a fraction of a second. Like a brief clap of thunder that covers the entire screen.

Where could this come from please? And does anyone have this problem too?

It's very unpleasant and you shouldn't be epileptic with this kind of bug :( .

    Thanks for your help.

  • Is it during using skills?

If Y, in game go to:

O (options) > Graphic Options > from the left column choose: engine settings > click: advanced

Full Screen Skill Effect - remove mark.

    Apply > OK.

If this not helps, describe, when the problem occurs and on what.

  • Good morning,

I will test this option to see if there is any improvement.

    Thank you very much :)

Regarding the problem in question, it is completely random but very common.

I will try to narrow down the problem and come back with more information.

  • Unfortunately this option, whether deactivated or not, changes nothing.

I also tested with vertical sync activated and deactivated, that doesn't change anything either.

    In windowed mode either.

    But,

I noticed that when I don't move my mouse/cursor the image no longer flickers.

What does it have to do with the mouse?

I'm having trouble finding where this could come from.

  • maybe an older gpu driver helps

    It's possible,

but I tested a lot of solutions before posting on the forum...I'm stuck

I switched from Nvidia to Amd for the graphics card. I wonder if I did the right thing :/

  • i also have an amd card without problems ingame

I have a 7900 xtx and I see a lot of users having multiple problems on the Amd forum with this graphics chip in particular, and in a lot of games unfortunately.

But my problem on Aion is caused by the movement of the mouse cursor. All things considered, I don't think it's the graphics card.

But I tested yesterday with a different mouse, same problem.

The game is playable with flickers/flash, but if only it doesn't happen every 20-30 seconds :/

After several hours of play it becomes very unpleasant.

  • I have two different problems found by myself.

    I.

Is Your problem the same or similar like this:

"Hello, I have a problem with textures in games. The image in general kind of flickers when turning in the game or moving around. It's mostly seen on grass, trees and dark elements or details. A video with the same problem:

    " ?

    If Y, i have found a solution.

This is a reply to problem showed in pasted film, in one forum:

    "In monitor settings:

Turn off all image enhancers and gaming assists, i.e.: all black corrections, all automations, all boosts, scaling, contrasts, liquefiers, sharpeners, etc.

-Turn everything off, then turn on one additional feature at a time and you'll see when the problem occurs or what's messing with what. In my case, specifically, the problem was with the liquefier and sharpening - both at once could not work, and for some unknown reason the manufacturer turned on both functions by default.

-You may have similar settings in the driver, I'm riding on the defaults with DSR/VSR enabled because such anti-aliasing suits me better. Also turn on variable refresh rate, it may help, but you probably have it turned on by default. You may also be limping anisotropic filtering in a particular game.

-with dynamic resolution scaling in the game you are unlikely to use with this configuration.

-if it not solved a problem: change the monitor to a monitor with less streaking."

    ________

    II.

I readed also about Your GPU: Rx 7900xtx. Net showing problems with temperatures, like throttling etc. Here is the AMD statement:

“We are working to detect the cause of the unexpected throttling occurring in some use cases of AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics cards manufactured by AMD. Based on our observations to date, we believe that the problem is related to the cooling system used in the reference design and occurs in a limited number of cards sold. We are committed to resolving this problem in the cards that have it. Customers who have found unexpected throttling are asked to contact AMD support.”

    Is this helpful?

  • Many thanks for all this information.

    For amd 7900xtx,

the graphics chip is capricious, and for the temperature, I replaced the thermal paste and lost 20° of heating. This temperature problem is over for me. Hotspot max 88°.

I reset my PC screen, and deactivated the DSC option which is activated by default.

Regarding the video you shared, that's not quite what's happening in my case.

To better visualize my problem, imagine that there is constantly a weather forecast in play with a storm and thunder lighting up the screen, that's what it looks like.

Unfortunately the game is currently under maintenance.

I'll wait until tomorrow to test whether or not the screen is the culprit.

Thank you very much for your help :)

  • Finally I was able to test, the servers are up :)

    Still the same problem.

I noticed that the screen flashes only appear when my mouse travels to the right side of my screen.

    It's a really weird bug.

In any case one thing is certain, this only happens when I move the mouse cursor

  • Is Aion installation good?

R U sure monitor is good? Also did U make sure all cables R OK? Is resolution ok? - all stupid and naive questions, but sometimes such situations occur :)

It is not normal if U met that case mostly in the right side. Maybe try turn off this soft from "new technology" in cpu or gpu (i forgot where it is).

This, what I wrote in previous posts have been found in net. No other problems found - unfortunately.

  • Thanks for the help :)

I checked the game files twice, everything is correct.

Yes, I took care to check all the cables...etc

    However,

Yesterday I removed my main Alienware 1440p - 240 hz screen and changed screens,

I still have a 1080p - 240 hz Asus tuf to do some tests.

No more graphics concerns with the second Asus Tuf screen.

Okay so I tell myself that it's the Alienware screen that has a problem.

    But actually no :/

I replace the Alienware screen, no more problems either...what?!

I played all evening without any problems or graphical bugs.

And this evening we're off again, the bugs and screen flashes are back.

I admit that I don't know what to think anymore?

Difficult to know if it's the defective screen or not?

I'm going to try removing the graphics drivers with DDU and reinstalling everything properly.

  • Hello,

Update: I fixed the problem by disabling HDR on my screen.

    Apparently that was it.

    A detail sometimes.

Thanks for all your help ;)
