I can answer those questions :

There will be cheaters

Player amount will be high for a month or 2, then drop

P2W presence will be battlepass items, so far

But if you are already having doubts, I doubt you will play for long.

I get it, everybody wants the old Aion, thats never coming back, so you need to decide if you will play the version that exists now.

After playing NA and seeing how easily people quit, im not hopeful this version will last long. It seems like Gameforge are trying, but IMO, people want 2009 and 2009 aint ever coming back.

Im looking forward to it, but im really not expecting perfection or anything close, im not suggesting you are seeking perfection either.

If nothing else you can sub for the first month and see if its for you, I suspect a vast number of people will very quickly realise that nostalgia wont be returning.

Personally I think the old Aion was more about the friends we met along the way, they made Aion what it was. But I guess we find out.

Imagine that 10.000 people would play a 1,9 release, but only 5.000 if the game launches with 2.0. It would be better for the longevity for aion classic to first launch with 1,9 and than try to regain as many people for 2,0 and beyond.

It's pretty obvious at this point that the initial playerbase will be higher with a 1,x than a 2,0 release seeing all the comments and polls made by players. The real question is, how long would we run 1,x content? If we have 1 year of 1,x, than yes it would be bad for the game. However 3 months or so of 1,9 before the 2.0 release would I think be perfect.

The key in making classic succesful is to launch it with the version that pulls in the maximum amount of people and to then keep them around with additional content/patches. 2.0 isn't that version.

I do agree that 1,2 or 1,5 would not be a good option, since than it would take way too long to get to 2.0. which would probably lead to a lot of people quitting beforehand.

IMO the monetization is more important than the patch. NA's slow patch release would have been more tolerable if we didn't have the battle pass and candies sky rocketing everybody's progression

So you need players, when was the time that Aion had more players? Gold Pack. A system that let ppl get it with ingame gold and others put money in the shop to get some kinah.

+ players = + earnings (via cosmetics, goldpacks, account updates etc). If theres a sub fee your gonna have dead servers, specially in Aion (that is miles alway from being popular). So your gonna have more P2W, good luck.

PD: I wouldnt even mind having to buy Aion Classic one life time, like you do in other MMOS, and then having the shop with gold pack, cosmetics etc... But paying 12-15 euros sub fee + all the rest? what kind of joke is this for a tier D MMO.

afc not, you dont gain AP from low lvls. i dont kill low levels. but if i'm lvl 35, a 30 is not a low level

Except it won't stop at just that level. Lvl 50 players will mostly face people under 50 in heiron/beluslan and the difference is massive. The only place where you would encounter lvl 50 players more commonly are upper forts but flight pvp is garbage

People in Europe are not gonna enjoy 1 year of fighting in abyss (flying pvp), cos it sux, just cos in Korea they did for 1 year, and i would even say the same for 2.0. The only complain i see here is 1.x having a harder leveling. Avoid campaign quest and level doing Fire Temple if you want. Thats not an excuse for putting EU in a worst patch in general or being 300 years behind Korea and having dedicated programmers in Korea to give support to EU 1.2 when all the rest of the regions are way ahead. At high level you will be able to enjoy Dark Poeta and the other 1.x high level instances. Same as the upper abyss instances.

Honestly Classic 3.0 is more exciting than anything else. I don't give a damn what map we play on, as long as the game stays to its roots and we get a properly balanced map(not like 1.x and 2.x), I'm more than happy to play this game for years

Doesn't take away from the fact that 2.0 was the decline of Aion the world over. Yes it initially spiked when it launched due to hype but it did NOT hold players for nearly as long as 1.x era. Seems to me you are the one talking out your back side.

Pretty sure you didnt followed KR population.

During 1.x from 1.2 to 1.7-1.9 they kept openning new server.

In fact 1.x was very popular and the game was alive on every map, you had pvp everywhere low lvl to high lvl.

In fact 2.0 is where their population decrease slowly.

When China got Classic released it had a huge success also.

No one will do the mistake to cute episode if not Gameforge.

It clearly show that either way Gameforge don't even understand their customer hype/interest.

And they follow Ncsoft advice that clearly will require less work to give 2.0 directly (no 1.5/1.7/1.9to2.0 patch),

and will dodge the early ap trade issue with bot/glitch and co.

even if you want 2.0 personaly,

you cannot be blind enought to not notice the majority is asking for 1.x start release.

And if Gameforge keep the 2.0 egainst the majority will, it scream what people been saying for so muche time.

That Gameforge does not listen their customer interest.

I don't understand how they took the decision who in GF staff experienced Classic Aion 1.x to 2.4 enought to take suche decision.

Majority of players asking 1.x release actually played it Classic version.

Even some of them played it in KR from the very start.

There is absoluetly 0 fact or argument any 2.0 wanter can bring to the table.

The game offer less content and less opportunity than the entier 1.x patch.

2.0 resume into :

Udas/Besh/Dregion afk.

Check NA situation, most players are afk if not using xForm to pvp Gelk/Inggi, stay logged 5 mins and check ur logs.

Your Classic launch could have 24h activity and really pop. Look at what happened to NA and learn from their mistakes and mismanagement; don't do it to your EU players. Avoid the quick cash grab and aim for the long game: thriving and populated servers with happy and loyal players who love Aion. I understand Gameforge is a business, and businesses need money, but players would be more than happy to spend their money on you if you handle the game we love with respect, attention and proper adjustments from the KR version tailored properly to the Western market (looking at that Deity HP debacle).
