Display MoreIt's amazing that no one has a clue to actually what is going on.
Hi, name is Unbeatable and I'm from NA. Maybe some of you know me through word of mouth as a player and others might have watched some of my very infrequent streaming in the past.
I've recently played on the Korean classic for a few months, and have basically called out everything that has taken place up to now.
So, with that said, I just wanted to shine some light for you guys.
Gameforge does not have the rights to publish an Aion Classic server. It's simple as that.
Gameforge took over Aion from NCsoft in the 2.7 expansion. Gameforge's contract with NCSoft is for NCSoft to provide them all content that's available in Korea, starting from the moment they took over, and that was back in 2.7. That means, that any sort of patch or expansion that comes out in the retail version, such as the 8.0 expansion that is coming... Gameforge will get as it is part of their contract.
Korean Aion Classic however is version 1.2-2.7. These are versions that Gameforge never hosted and never had a contract to publish. It is a whole different entity compared to the current retail version, and one that Gameforge does not have the rights to publish.
So when these moderators of yours tell you "it's in the works", it means that they are trying to make a deal with NCSoft to get the publishing rights.
But here is the catch. Will NCSoft sell those publishing rights to Gameforge? Maybe, but highly unlikely.
Why? If you know NCSoft as well as I do, they're a money hungry company. To them money is everything, just as it should be for any company to be successful. Why would a company that has underestimated the success of the Aion Classic in Korea, sell their publishing rights to a company and make them rich.... when they can just deny the publishing rights to Gameforge, and have the Europeans play in NA and make themselves (NCSoft) rich instead?
Hopefully that opens up your eyes as to what is happening behind the scenes and how you should approach your classic experience.
