Display MoreIm not a big fan of the Aion classic, imo the game didnt age well, its a bit "wooden" for my taste, like Lineage2, it was awesome... 15 years ago. This game in NA has
1) 20$ sub (50$ for 3 months)
2) 30$ battle pass
3) real money -> candy -> kinah
With all that blatant cash grab they cant even ban all the bots xD
I also find it hilarious (in a sad way) that 20$ cant buy you a p2w-free game, I mean cmon, you dusted off an old game, did some dev work (its nothing compared to a new game or making new assets) and you still suck and suck monies? Leeches.
to add that those that pay will have extra entries in instances. for some instances is irrelevant but imagine eso and further instances like pvp instances. rank becomes directly related to p2w... not just indirectly. very soon there is the 55 patch in korea and probably the next one in another half year. ppl talking like this is a marathon to get to som fixed point but it's not like you get your 50e and that's it... you continuously need kinah and farm and stuff and all the p2w small things snowball with time.
for me the perfect balance of aion is a combination of classic and the main one.
and i'm not talking about the p2w cash grab we have it now. every since they introduced more daily quests and stuff i hate them with a passion. daily lugbug and now frags... daily quests... daily dumaha or red katalam... daily login atreia pass and so on. so many that is required to login daily or you miss out. is just a stupid game design. then since 6.0 there is a shortage of everything and a lot more rng involved to get something... or nothing at all. and so many untradable items and such an unfun crafting system. now you can farm 50-70 stigma stones in a month only to find out that you wasted all in the next stigma event. you farm purple frags for making leg forms and fuse them and see that you wasted months of farming. so many times you waste your time completely... it's like you never farmed anything the whole time.
classic has it's bad stuff as well. the single and most hated was manastone socketing but at least we had access to lots of manastones. classes were slow in speed and attack speed and somehow the game was less optimized and the message target is too far away was something you could hear all the time playing a sin. class balance was never achieved in this game. not now... not in the past either. now we have minions and some weapon triggers but godstones were too way much.
there is too much to talk about both versions but if they reworked the current aion... with relevant farm in the game... trades and crafts... less rng overall (just a chain of rng events one after another to get one thing)... no cash exclusive items and p2w... i'd like the current version more.
Display MoreDisplay MoreThat's all I can think of for now, I haven't played this game since 4.* keep in mind (played it briefly when there transformations were a thing)
Also one big fundamental change that I want to see, maybe not everyone will agree, but a complete reset of rankings needs to be done every 3-5 months. Someone hoarding #1 Governor spot while new players will never be able to catch up makes no sense, it keeps the game dried up and old. Resetting rankings will make it fresh and incentivize people to play more.
That's all for now, feel free to add ideas.
You never played back in the days i guess.
No one want to be governor, because you lose so much AP everytime you get killed, and the ranking is AP based. + Everyone will see you as a giant AP cow and General quest cow for their gold GS and you will get dived into towns and guards by ppl with 4k dp on xD
People became governor to buy their elite 50 ap weapon then insta drop to soldier rank 9 the moment they can make the purchase.
You clearly never played back then, when Governor spots were occupied by people who didn't even speak English, who'd transform at the stupidest things, who'd never participate in sieges and the list goes on.
There's a lot of other reasons why a resetting to rankings every x months is important, if you ever played PoE you'd understand, from keeping the game fresh pov to making it fair for someone that joined the game later. Tbh it blows my mind NCSoft didn't think of these things back in the day.
suggesting a reset of ap is out of this world. it doesn't compare with poe which is just a seasonal game and a non factor ranking for most of the community.
the ap ranking was stupid but taking ap away from ppl is an impossible ask. ap is used to buy your greater stigmas... your most important gear... crafting mats or designs... consumables. it breaks the game even further if it's reset. imagine almost having ap for a gear part but the reset comes and all the ones that farmed that gear will laugh in your face because their ap was useful and your was not and this created a bigger imbalance between players because the gear and everything else doesn't reset like in poe.
it's true... we had useless governor or commanders... some asmo guy level 40 or 45 farming only lower abyss and it was pink to highest levels and low levels could never kill it. the we had clerics that were just hoarding ap from solo eso and dredge... later those that spammed all the pve instances added to the game and unrelated to sieges. there is a reason why glory points was added... and the solution to classic. ap is still pretty relevant today... for upgrades and items... imagine resetting this one.
