28.10.2020 on Korea - Classic Server Discussions

  • Either way, the classic server might mostly be a brand push before Aion2 mobile in Korea, but I hope GF will view it as a more permanent server for Europe and treat it with consideration as such.

  • don't blame each other it's the publisher's fault. If we had descent events and much less p2w everyone would be happy.

Come on, events are very descending.

I'm telling you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.

  • Technique its because of these ideologies that we are in the *** right now.

so it would be better if we have not that kind of shop, so that ppl who don´t have that much time, have to stay behind ppl with much time?

Yes, would make sense. So the community would be a lot smaller.

As long as the people who cash can just "keep up" with those who tryhard i'm fine with it.

It starts being a problem from the moment the shop gives you things you cannot get in a reasonable amount of time and cashers gets so far ahead that people that are willing to farm everything cannot even hope to keep up anymore (kinda like the current patch).

No one is interested in another rng+wallet size comparison like the current patch is.

    I hate stupid people.

  • Thing is shop/p2w is even good when the items are tradable in ah(like gold pack, skins and a few other items) but the problem is not p2w itself, it´s the supid nonsense long term goal mentality of NC(limiting, putting in more and more RNG, more different stuff to enchant with bad rates, you know what i mean) which is there since 5.0 and since that Aion went downhill. This only works for mobile games/gatchas, but not for MMORPGs. Hell even the kinah making is extremely limited now since 6.0 while in classic you can regulary make decent kinah in different ways...

The funny thing is they never learned from it and bath in their own pool of shait and pretty much dead servers(5.0 - 7.7, just check myaion xd).

And THIS is why classic is successful even with it´s p2w aspects, it´s an old patch from a successful time(2.7 was it?) with accessable endgame gear, no stigmas etc to enchant and everyone can just have fun in a competetive way which you can even reach without paying money in a decent time. The ones who pay(gold pass or whatever it´s called, etc) just reach it faster but it´s not like there is an endless gap between f2p and whales like in 5.0 - 7.7.

I think Classic versions of older successful MMORPGs(in their first years) are like a Remake of successful titles for consoles(like FF7R, RE, etc) and they are also very successful.

You know, back then when they announced 6.0 as a reboot? This pretty much failed on an extreme hilarious level and thinking about it now it was false advertisement and a scam, while the classic version is actually a real reboot for my understandings.

    I agree.
I am only worried about the fact that GF is usually in control of the drop rates. They could nerf the shit out of classic and make it as playable as the retail version.

I mean the retail version would not be that bad if we had a pemanent 200% boost on Exp and Kinah for instance. Very small adaptations could help us a lot.
In 5.X we still got a lot of additional resources to farm exp thanks to GF. So it seems publishing an almost unplayable game is their new business plan; as stupid as it sounds.

But let's hope for the best.

  • Any new mmoprg has some level of P2W these days. Reading what other ppl write here about p2w and such, I think you guys need to drop your expectations a bit. The game will have some level of p2w and the faster you accept it the better the patch is gonna be for you if you are thinking to play it. I doubt it will make the game unplayable for f2p though. Aion was never perfect and classic will not be perfect either.

What you can expect is that gearing is going to be slow and drops from instances are going to be low (probably 100% better from the first patches though). You can boost ap gain and drops rates with amulets or shop buffs (some premium model). That's what we've seen on Korea at least. Some bundles with candies, scrolls, enchantment stones, manastones, titles and idle animations (like the boxing animations similar to ninja etc), skins etc. GF version might slightly differ though. Bundles might be less available if those are more expensive. The bundles were a way to bring these items fast to the game. It depends if it's a good thing or not. At least it makes gearing easier for everyone when manastones and enchantment stones are more available to the game and it makes the whole server advance faster. For example getting upper forts and core fort in the abyss is going to be faster. Where in the old patch it took months before ppl reached the gear to even cap abyss core fort.

What could ruin the game is items like candies. What we've seen in Korea is that ppl can sell the candies to NPC to get kinah (not worth but it's a choice). These old patches don't have many ways to delete kinah from the game or at least I can't remember any way to do so. Shop items could possibly inflate prices which could possibly ruin the game markets. It could make goldpacks and other items too expensive. This is pretty much the only thing that could totally ruin the whole experience for f2p players.

So in short. It's going to have some level of p2w. Gear progression in general is faster but still limited by drops. Getting ap is going to be very limited at start (no dredgion, just open world pvp). You are going to see a lot of candies and other shop items that are cheap in the shop. Skills are from 2.7 so every class is already "updated version" even in 1.2. There's still no class balance as some classes will be op. There will be bots and is probably harder to manage in EU than in Korea. Scripters and AHK is probably gonna be a problem aswell as there's no anticheat.

Even with its flaws, I'm still definitely gonna play it with my old friends. Like Squall says, he's gonna try it, not cause of the game, but cause there will be old aion players trying out the patch. With all the flaws in the game, I'm pretty sure we can still enjoy it while it lasts. It's not gonna be perfect but it's still the old Aion.

  • If i could choose between 7.7 p2w or classic p2w. Classic still beats 7.7 everytime. Better gameplay, better gear equality( even with p2w ), and all in all a better patch contentwise..

  • So, still no news? By the time they decide to announce anything they'll lose half the people because the hype will be over. I remember Lost Ark had huge hype at start but these days it's dead, no discussions.

Well, apparently Lercer has more information, but can't say anything about classic server. (as I understand it)

Yes, would make sense. So the community would be a lot smaller.

    This is just objectively wrong.

The community in Aion has never been this small. The game is also filled to the brim with P2W mechanics. Clearly the majority doesn't like the way the game works right now. Only a very small minority likes the current state the of the game. And I'd even dare to think that the majority of current active players doesn't even like the state of the game but has nothing else to play and just sticks around (I've certainly had that feeling for months before I quit) or is just straight up addicted.

You see the same thing happening in other games. Retail Runescape vs oldschool, Retail WoW vs classic. All clearcut cases that the monetised modern versions have a hard time keeping up with their classic subscription based counterparts.

Might want to rethink that take.

  • This is just objectively wrong.

Objectively? Who declared YOU to decide whats objective and whats not? You represent your own right or wrong private opinion like all others here, nothing more, nothing less......

Wonder when the last of you guys will recognize that there will be no subscription based AION classic in europe under Gameforge.....

maybe there will be random days subscription. 1 day 70% ,..., 30 days 0.0001%

  • Buzzing... with bots.

funny you say that when retail eu servers are 90 % bots and 10 % of players are using the outo combat feature provided by the game lmao so everyone was using third party programs to bot and they decided to just make it legal to fix the issue lmao

  • Something being better than 7.x doesn't make it good imho

Actually what is making it "good" and by far better than 5.0-7.x is the number of players on the servers and how long the servers will be full or filled. Time will tell, but i´m sure even on a long term the classic servers will be more filled than the official Aion servers. Speaking about KR, EU is a different thing and we can´t tell until we get it - but it can´t be worse than Aion EU Official.

  • I personally think Classic is a mistake in the EU.

I believe many people will give it a go for sure but after a while, it's going to go downhill.

The first time around, aion started to have a slight decline in 2.0 I see no reason why now would be any different.

At the very least it's going to be even worse than before since the novelty of aion is gone.

On the other hand, it's possible it could retain a certain population that actually surpasses the current patch and from this perspective, it might actually be interesting for players.

Either way, one thing is certain, it will separate the small leftover community that the EU has.

From gameforge perspective...I'm not sure they will want to have fewer wales on a version of aion which is basically a casino.

I personally think in the midterm, it's a bad gamble, for both gameforge and the players. hope I'm wrong. time will tell
