28.10.2020 on Korea - Classic Server Discussions

  • Freetoplay is fine when players without money can achieve the same thing.
Maybe by spending a little more time.

This is not possible in aion of today.

  • and what if its never confirmed do players just wait till the end of time ?

It will obviously be confirmed at some point if we get it or not. No one will have to wait until the end of times.

Of course such things need to be considered but the technical requirements I was referring to are not related to the business model or anything you mentioned there. We wouldn't call it technical requirements.

  • so what would you call it then?

is it anything to do with what is being said here

    21.04.2021 UPDATE 8.0 ON KOREA

because here it says Aion classic will be released in EU 2022?

    so what is going on?

  • We told you what is going on already in an official announcement.

I don't know this source, but the only trustable source regarding if classic will happen in AION EU is us. We don't even know yet ourselves as we said so I don't see how anyone could know... Don't trust unreliable sources.

  • It's not the real aion. It's a reboot. They are just restarting the game until 3.0 and then they will change the direction of the game. Not really a classic though is it? Aion Reboot would have been a better name :D

Source: dude trust me (but it have to be valid because I've seen a youtube video about it)

AION Update 8.0 is now coming live soon. Introducing the new map Aspharanta.

AION Update 8.2 will follow soon, and will introduce an entirely new business model adopted by NCSoft with the purpose of attracting new players.

AION Classic is in the works of being released for EU sometime in 2022, AION Classic will follow a different update path and the lore of the game will be re-written.

Further down the line, AION: Remastered is in plans. A Cross-platform AION with new, updated graphics. Planned release between 2022 towards 2023.

Please note that AION Classic and AION Remastered are subject to change depending on the company's situation.

    AION CLASSIC

    Tahabata: Dale (Elyos Ranger) 2023-Present

  • Well, we will see soon enough (15 days) if 8.0 will include the new level cap and new skill system as your so called "LEAKS" announced :)

  • Don´t see the point where 8.0 should attract more new players then all updates before 8.0 didn´t manage to attract new players...

Its more about "guys, we are still developing the game *wink wink*, in the meantime buy some rng boxes from the shop".

They had a chance with 6.0 and the big reset, they chose to screw it up.

  • I found an interesting review on reddit about the classic server that I put below.

I've been playing Classic in Korea for months and want to remind everyone that Classic won't necessarily be the best thing since sliced bread, and it'll really take NCsoft to put in some serious R&D to keep it alive, similar to OldSchool Runescape and the likes.

    Economy & P2W

    • In Korea, the amount of kinah you get from vendoring armor/weapons is extremely low. A piece of 36 blue armor for example might vendor for 3000 kinah - money is EXTREMELY difficult to get while leveling. Don't even expect to be able to afford all of your skill books right away.
    • There will be p2w right off the bat, especially if we get the Daeva Pass system Korea got. Daeva Pass is a list of daily/weekly/monthly missions which unlock rewards, typically stuff like pots, scrolls, and administator's boon. There are premium rewards you can unlock by paying (like $50USD equivalent IIRC) which include major crowns, 400 platinum coins, etc. You can also skip all of the missions and buy all daeva pass rewards for the season "right away" for some exorbitant amount of money.
    • You can also buy kinah straight from day 1 by buying transformation candies which sell to the vendor for 100k each. In Korea it came out to be about $9USD/mill.
    • The economy is completely screwed up. There are more bots than actual players, and the bots NEVER get banned. I've seen the same bots play 24 hours a day for weeks, maybe months straight. They drive down the price of everything that can be gathered organically, and combine this with p2w via buying candies above, it's almost impossible to seriously play Aion in Korea without buying kinah.

    Gameplay - PVE

    • I must say, leveling isn't terrible. Of course, very grindy just like the old days, no shortcuts like Haramel, and 44-46 is particularly painful. Very nostalgic though. Most players with any level of commitment to the game will hit 50.
    • End game PVE is BORING. With Aion "1.2", the end-game instances are Draupnir Cave and Steel Rake. Both DC and SR are very long, very easy instances and really are extremely boring. The only mildly interesting fight is Bakarma, and for some classes Bakarma gear isn't even that good (cleric, sin). At this point, many PVE-only players will quit. They'll hit 50, do some PVE, remember that Aion PVE s*cks and will quit.
    • Lackluster open world PVE too - Bollvig, Jeshuchi/Zapiel, Alukina - these fights are about as interesting as steel rake. Open world bosses don't really become interesting until 3.0 imo.

    Gameplay - PVP

    • The main PVP area is the abyss and flying pvp is very clunky. You are too far away from your target. You are too far away from your target. I hope your class doesn't have skills that can't be used while flying (cough cleric). Etc.
    • There will be people with full 40e by week 3. Just like the good old days, they'll be rifting and rolling through the casual players wearing green gear.
    • Speaking of, rifting is fun, but rifts aren't open 24/7 and the curse system will put a target on your back very quickly.
    • Lots of hackers. They never get banned similar to the botters. Get used to being killed by someone 2000 meters in the air above you, people glidehacking away, etc.

Overall, Aion Classic is still worth playing if you have the itch to play Aion again, but it will have loads of issues guaranteed.

Edited once, last by NekoMujuuryoku ().

  • must say some parts of this really bring back the old days, botting 24/7 for one.

pvp in the abyss (You are too far away from your target)

so they put the curse system in :(

    Lots of hackers

    PVE players crying and leaving

    economy is completely screwed up

    just some of it.

But there was great times as well many of them.

  • Honestly there's nothing surprising there. Even if you p2w the Daeva pass the first day, you don't get a new pass before the next month starts. So paying 50USD to get rewards asap doesn't give you any more items compared to the one that paid the normal price of 10-12USD. You just get it faster.

I doubt anyone is expecting a perfect version. The biggest problem is the content. 2.x+ mostly has the content and 1.2 barely has any. In Korea, It took around 3 months to get 1.5 with dredgion and it seems to take one year before they are getting 2.5. Those patches everything is really limited as well so gearing is slow. Imo they should've patched to 2.5-2.7 asap because there's barely content in the earlier patches.

  • so retail aion is p2w = bad

and classic aion is p2w = just like the old days :D

    ok people

  • I belive there's difference between p2w (pay 2 win, pay to progress faster) and "p2w" (gamble all your money to have small chance of obtaining desired item which is available pretty much only via gambling for over 2 years).

  • I belive there's difference between p2w

    As I said here :

    Let us be clear .

Ca$hing is not the problem  Pay2Win is it  !

    Like I say :

    or here :

True, but there is also a difference between "can I have the same progress without paying money in 1-2 months" and "can I have the same progress without paying money in 1-2 years". In my opinion it´s also p2w when the progress without paying money is there, but takes way too long.

  • I belive there's difference between p2w (pay 2 win, pay to progress faster) and "p2w" (gamble all your money to have small chance of obtaining desired item which is available pretty much only via gambling for over 2 years).

I agree with this. At least, if you p2w in classic lets say, you get what you are paying for. P2W in retail and it's a gamble...for example you pay 49AC for a 0.000000001 chance of an ulti contract. There's the difference.

Excuse me but I don't see any difference. In both cases you pay money to gain an advantage over those who don't spend any money. When people are addicted to little p2w progress then comes what we have now. Companies makes you spend more and more until you reach your limits by spending the maximum amount of money you can afford. Gambling models like what we have now depend mostly on gaming disorder which tends to become one of the most common addictive behaviour nowadays.

  • I agree with this. At least, if you p2w in classic lets say, you get what you are paying for. P2W in retail and it's a gamble...for example you pay 49AC for a 0.000000001 chance of an ulti contract. There's the difference.

The slot-machine-gambling-RNG-p2w will come for sure in AION classic too, sooner or later, just for the reason that slot-machine-gambling-RNG-p2w is simply the best business model a company can get to maximize the profit. ;)

  • Excuse me but I don't see any difference.

    I'll clarify that for you:

Pay to Win (not really) in classic:
    You get roles, run-speed-attak-cast -...
You get buff food drink, eat
You will receive a couple of Enchantment Stones
You will get a couple of level help EXP amulets
Everything you get is limited to the amount of money X and the amount / number of items X per month
This is also ingame without money, everything is available in a moderate time, for example. 3-6 hours per week of crafting

(Real) pay to win in the current retail Aion:
With a lot of luck and or a lot of money you will get the ultimate transformation
With money you simply receive stigma enchantment stones (as many as you want to pay)
    with no limit.
You get as many items as, for example. restoration stone (which is not available ingame without an event and even there only with a lot of luck)
    enchanting aids.
You will receive as many Daevanion Expert Set as you can buy with your money!
Which is also not available in-game in the amount (how many? 1-2 source per week? Only!)
Not even someone can compensate for that with "longtherm goal nonsense".
How many years would it take for a player?
10-20 years? even then that's not enough ...

    understood so far?
