I have a feeling it will be hard to find 5k gullible (and paying) people to come back and play Aion again after 6.x lies about "Aion you always wanted".

well without P2W it wouldn´t be worth anymore....
That cannot be the desire for a classic server if it is again about milking the players even more, then GF can save itself the thought of setting up one.
Normal business can still be limited to gold packages, mounts or skins and still earn enough from them.
but how should a casher understand that ...
Nice assumption, but no, it will be P2W 100%.. Unless they can REALLY monetize it, they would not bother wasting resources on it. People can keep holding on to their baseless hopes, but this game will never not be VERY p2w ever again. If someone is holding on to hope it will lessen they should just stop right here.

After it can be less p2w than the current version. (Of course this is a guess.)
Because personaly i don't see how a classic server can be more p2w than the current version

There is no less or more p2w. It's p2w or no p2w.

I misspoke, I meant maybe you will pay less for a 4.x or 2.x version ... than for a 6.x or 7.x version.
I don't know if you see what i mean.

How does Classic WoW benefit Blizzard?
If they have just gold pack, and that's 10$, there's already maybe like 5k people playing on "other servers" that might potentially come to an official classic server (if done well, have to emphasize this).
Let's say 3k come just from those (+ other sources, advertising, emailing, old players who quit) so let's say 5k for the sake of a round number.
That's 5000*10 = 50k a month. Now add in skins from cash shop and maybe exp amulets and yeah, you end up with a decent number.
For something that's so easy to make. It's not like a Classic server is hard to create, it's very easy. I'd say, it's worth it.Curious what makes you think that server managed by Gameforge would have bigger playerbase than a (sortof) f2p friendly server managed by someone else (2k at the peak time i belive).
Also 50k of a stable income per month shouldn't even cover what gameforge would have to pay to some programmers to take care of the legacy code of the 11 years old aion, since (according to the Daeva's Tavern) NCsoft wouldn't provide a support for old aion releases.
Add the Community Managers, power bills, server maintenance, game support, quality assurance, game management etc.
For 50k per month it's not really worth for gameforge to bother thinking of aion

For sure they wont go for so 'basic' shop items , just look at our current shop , can buy polishing powder, cleaning powder etc... which is not so easy to come by ingame without lot effort and ofc shop has no limit , question is which patch they will go for.
Even old patches could have new 'p2w' items, like arena tickets for spamming pvp arena to gain hp (even by afk like 'pro' noobs used to) for xform rank or abyss relics if we get patch with old abyss xform rank , or medals for pvp gear and the list goes on but i wont give any more ideas.
Just dont be too naive and expect the worst , this way you wont get dissapointed with the game as most people did so often lately.

There is a path, where without using basic game items for shop and for server activity, all costs for back and also for some benefits later: why NCSoft cant think about:
- character creation expansion - create new tool for appearance, for example make-up for female chars, new hairstyle
- customization - more skins: weapon, wings, outfits; more mounts
This is very good way to have very nice game for everyone without p2w model, but if u want look beautiful like in other games - buy skin, buy new: tickets for change ur make-up or idk. Yes, needed nice graphic artists for it ... if NCSoft dont have ...

I wonder why everyone thinks that its gonna be a classic server only because it says "Daeva memories will come true...the days we hoped to return"
It can mean literally anything. From a new event (instance), to a teaser for some upcoming promo/trailer, to a 8.0 announcement, to a Aion 2 mobile announcement. It can be literally everything
-
because of this:
Classic server:
We are still discussing with NCSOFT the possibility of having it in the future.

Because some korean player think it's classic server and the announcement of galeas.

Im so hyped, but also Im afraid they can start classic server in Korea, but it won't start in EU because of something.. Remember start in Korea doesn't mean start here!

Even direct sale of the pvp gear in the shop or arena ticket or whatever you want doesn't even come close to the p2w and rng levels we have with the current version.
But direct sale of the gear would definitely kill the server.
The list of things they can sell without destroying the server is quite extensive: Exp amulets/ AP amulets / Gold packs / Skins / dyes / Instance reset scrolls / Candies / Drop amulets / Inventory expansion / Warehouse expansion / Name-gender-appearence-legionname change / from 1.9 (or 2.0?) Pets for inventory or autoscroll... that's already quite a lot of money to be made on all the players that this kind of server would bring back.
Anyway, galeas said they are talking with ncsoft about it, considering they already talked about it in the past and ncsoft had declined previously, galeas mentioning it here means korea's opinion about a classic server has changed. Now it just comes down to how it's gonna be handled by NC first then gameforge.

And this is where I find too much incoherence because if we believe what galeas ncsoft said, "they couldn't create a classic server."
So why now ncsoft could create a classic server?

You dont need to produce new content or change existing one, you just load old files to a server, push reset, voila you have a classic server. 0 effort, easy money.

yes but that don't answer the question because they said ncsoft can't create classic server you can see on this link

Ncsoft didn't want to, but gameforge wanted, they simply couldn't because if they did it by themselves they would get no support from ncsoft in case something went wrong with the server.
If Ncsoft changed their stance and accept to provide support for a classic server, gameforge will go for it, they already said in the past that they wanted to have one.
-
Also, if you didnt notice we should get 8.0 update some months ago, maybe its easier (cheaper) to release a classic server than make something new (recycled prolly).

You are implying this would bring players back, or getting players from the **cough** servers into a official classic, while what it actually does it just cut more people from the current official retail servers into server where there is less items to sell for € and will likely quit (most of them) once the nostalgia drive is over.
Its very likely they wont make profits with idea like this in the long run,
and even more likely it wont have the effect they hope
(Aka bring people back in mass and get players from **Cough** servers into their own)
This is not WoW. Aion has absolutely non-comparable number of player base for this to really be a good idea to make them any ok profits in the long run (And they wont keep something running without income, obviously, its a business after all.. Either it profits or = pointless investment of time, manhours in maintaining it and moderating the community for it, server costs, license costs for NC to publish it and support personel costs)
