Should i play the game or not??Is it populated??I tried to look around on forum and population seems low..I do hope as a returning player that maybe 8.0 might save the game if its dead already??

No. Only old fans play. It's dead, players 90% only log for afk event with dual account, so the daily online statistic is missleading you.
Gameforge dont listen to the community thats why the game is bad now.

Log in, have some fun and check for yourself. If you're a tryhard needing everything in advance to go pvp or pve, it's not worth it.
If you want to casually log in for old times' sake, go for it.
The pace is slow, like it always was, it's just, now, there are so many systems in place, that playing catch-up seems to last forever.
There's too much to do and yet, somehow, too little :p

As a new players you're literally waste in pvp groups (you won't contribute without gear, all you will do will be feeding enemies with points), in pve... I don't think new players do more than 20% of geared ppl dps so yeah, not worth to inv new players.
That's how game breaking the gear, stigmas, runes, odians, transformations and minions are

Think 2 months ago you could buy Merciless Gear for 90 days in the shop. Think that could be a way, that new/returning player could catch up. Only thing they have to do is spend €, sounds easy

I agree with you for pvp, but for pve I kinda disagree...
Well it depends on what you call "new player". Of course somebody who is still with ancient/legendary pve gears will not do anything. But with pve titan coins gears, beginners have a pretty decent first solution to gear themselves quickly.

Being myself a new player (started last July, so approx. 2 months playing), I am often invited to instances by people I met who are way more geared than me, and it's not a problem.
I do what I can, they are happy about it (they can do most instances without me anyway) and now my dps is getting closer and closer to their because I gear myself slowly but surely when we share the loots.
Now I go with them on higher level instances (Stella NM and Prom HM for example), and we are bringing with us another new players who are now less geared than me. Of course sometimes some instances are a bit challenging, few fails happen, but it's funny!
Still not endgame instances yet of course, but it should come soon in the next months!

Why would someone ever enjoy the leveling part. Either buy a lvl 80 acc or powerlvl an acc from 1-80 to get to the endgame content as fast as possible

the leveling part is way more enjoyable than playing endgame and get killed by one shot

I was a returning player i came back about May this year to EU i opened 4 of my accounts and lvled them to 80 all chars yes a great deal was lvl 55 so it did not take long, gear was an issue at points but i sorted it. Now my main is getting better geared and skilled, also i have geared 4 chars with titan coin pve /pvp and lakrum accessories since the bot was released i know its not the best gear but its a start and it has not taken me long to do.
I have also added to my kill count so it can be done you just got to want to do it.
yes i play with 2 computer and i leave alts on over night getting coins.
and with this event you keep alts logged for 5 hours and bot with then and you get the skill box it all helps.

Real old fans quit a long time ago buddy lol, I barely recognize anyone on these forums from back in 2.7, except like 2 people.

Many mobile gatchas have more popularity/population than aion, if it wouldn´t be cross server the game would be really dead now.
Besides that aion runs like shait now.

The big issue is i heard you cant even find groups anymore.As most people are geared im sure about so they dont care about new/returning players.I dunno man i really love aion i always did.Best mmorpg for sure.
Its sad what they did to it tho.
Biggest problem in the game the RNG festival what brake your groups.
You cant go with your buddys into endgame instances if you dont have luck (+15 stigma ulti form etc) To reach endgame content, you need some kind of safe path to earn this goals, but gameforge wont provide it for us. If you dont get luck you will fall behind, so your group needs to replace you. If you are good friends maybe they will carry you later when they get the gear... But where is the fun in it....?

same here, nothing to do. Iremember old times when Ingg/Gelk was main city i was doing many hours PVP but now nothing special just farm/jump stay afk. This is not aion that i started to play.

That strongly depends on your personal goals.
Here are the hard facts: this game is 11 years old. Many of the remaining players play this game for 11 years or at least a couple of years. These players are mostly overgeared and overequipped in any important case like gear, stigmas, skills, shimiol, transformation, etc, etc.
So if your goal is to start this game from zero and be competitive in pvp or the endgame, just forget it, don´t give it a try, you just waste time and will not get happy.
If your goal isn´t to be competitive in the endgame and pvp, you find several ways to play solo or in group without being overgeared and overequipped. You have daily and weekly quests, events and promotions which burn lot of your ingame time, you can go dreds and raid and do instances and so on. But you have to deal with it, that you are one- or two-hit for most overequipped players. The gap between new players and these veterans is meanwhile that big, that it´s hardly to be closed. And there aren´t that much new players on your level anymore like in former times.
AION had it´s best years long time ago and it isn´t getting better like every other 11 year old game.
