Why is EU classic so nerfed compared to NA?

  • Just a few examples, EU vs NA:

    NA: 200% XP, 150% Kinah, 150% AP (from pvp/quests/relics turn in, everything)

    All the quests and campaigns in EU give much lower XP

    The exp needed to level is much higher in EU, for example to get out of Poeta you need a boring grind for 1-2 hours after doing all the campaigns, what's the point of this?? Level 48-50 the same, 53-55 the same. This is very discouraging towards leveling alt characters.


    DROPRATES:


    Now this is disgusting, (just like back in retail) EU droprates are insanely low.


    • In NA you drop stormwing wings almost every run, sometimes 3-5 eternals in one run, decent rate of weapons, in EU.. you are lucky to see 1 eternal part in a few runs and almost no golds.
    • Anuhart boss (last one before Taha) in Dark Poeta, in NA it drops the gold sword and/or belt every time, I haven't seen that even once in EU yet.
    • Lower Udas: accessories/armor/weapons are almost non-existent, in NA you drop a gold weapon almost every run, sometimes along golden accessories. The kinah box also has a lot more.
    • Relics: KKM/ESO are almost a waste of time with the ridiculous drops.

  • So, personally i didnt play on NA and had no idea about this. But i heared it from some players before, and seeing this, kinda makes me quite sad / angry.


    I would really like to hear a reason from GF.....

    Yeah connection is awful, sometimes NA+vpn feels smoother than playing in EU where I'm much closer.

    They are doing worse so far. Also we are not getting any of the classic client fixes that happened in later patches, i.e the [supply] armor items for udas set that don't work for the set effects with the normal ones, it was the same in NA, NC fixed that later on, but we are not getting any of the things that got improved through the classic lifetime, just a repeat of the same timeline without incorporating any of the fixes or changes for good. Stigmas: same thing, current classic version has ways to obtain the low level ones through quests, we didn´t get that.

  • i remember discussions on the board and discord vividly where players asked/begged gameforge to not make leveling and ap gain too easy to more resemble the classic experience.


    while the shitty drop rate and the npc prices are a different topic, for me the 150% ap gain on na which also included relics, dredgion and tiark was a mistake.

    Damn, that´s pretty huge difference.


    Wish we could get any reasonable official statement from GF, especialy about drop rates. Leveling part is only annoying but i guess everybody can live with that since its nothing compared to 1.2 or so (its not like you have to do lvl via mob grind because there is literaly nothing else) but drop rates issue is the critical point here. In combination with the massive 75% selling price nerf it is just too much to overlook...

    thats simply a business decision. NA also had different bonuses at the beginning of classic, but raised it after a time to make it more appealing. In my oppinion they did it after they had a huge player loss.

    You do the mistake to compare different versions of the game. NCSoft KR did multiple changes of certain values of the livespan of aion classic. The leveling-phase got speed up more and more in later patches. Thats why other regions, with a never version of AION Classic, have different settings here. If you would compare the 2.4 settings/xp rewards for the quests they would be the same like ours.

    Thats someting GF changed, yes. GF started with a x1.5 higher XP curve and this change is still live for AION Classic 2.0. This might be changed in the future, but I am not able to tell you if and when.


    I can just say that we have the original rates of AION 2.4, which were provided by NCSoft KR and they were the same for them in this patch. I don't know if this is the same issue that we compare two different versions of the game here, or if NA has indeed different rates than the ones the developer intedended (NCoft KR).


    Overall it is important to compare our version with the same version Korea had. Comparing to an other overseas region, like NA, makes no sence in this context, since some settings can be changed for each region like we did with the XP curve. Who knows if they requested higher rates or have a event running for their drops.

    The examples you provided were not changed in anyway by GF and are the default values.

    PS: If you check the NA Forums you will see more or less the same complains about the overall droprate. I am checking their forum regulary aswell.

  • I know they are on a different patch. I played in NA from 2.0 until their current 2.7 patch now, so I'm comparing mostly my experience there vs what I'm seeing here (played 1 month of 1.x and came back for 2.0)


    They got a massive nerf in 2.5 by removing open world drops, but before that it was alright. But speaking mostly about instances, all through their 2.x, the loot in instances is really a lot better than here.


    The exp part really makes no sense to me, like what's the point of forcing us to grind for 1-2 hours in Poeta to get out? or forcing people to do boring repeat quests for hours to get the final levels to 50 and then to 55? Business-wise the other way around would be more beneficial in my opinion, if people are playing more alts that's potential extra revenue. If they cba due to the senseless/boring necessary grind, they won't be spending that extra on their other chars. Instance-loot wise, same story, properly rewarding players for their time results in extra revenue (people will play more, alt more, buy more shop items for their chars and runs).


    Same with dual boxing, it's not forbidden in NA, people would pay Siel on both accounts if we had no such restriction and it's not something that gives the player unfair advantages or something like that, but merely a convenience, like holding group for their main account, buffs, extra storage space, more instance runs after cd..


    Banning/forbidding VPNs is also in my opinion a big mistake, a lot of the people I played with from NA who came here for EU launch already quit, in big part due to latency issues that tunneling services greatly improve. (I would have never played NA without that)


    Back to the droprates, NA's rapid descent came after the 2.5 open-world nerf, and their server is now a desert. Something to consider for the future of EU Classic.

  • And here i keep counting Stormwing kills that give zero eternals and barely one extractable yellow... Wings? Do they even exist?

    We got them in our first successful kill and a Jerkin in the third so far... and we just killed him only tree times. Can't complain for now :D

  • Can also be adressed the fact that vendor price for selling drops was nerfed to the ground + added daily limit? Nobody is buying the statement that reason was to stop bots...its perfect opposite and its money shower for bot owners.

    Either nobody from GF team is playing (which i believe because otherwise you would stop this nonsense) or there is different connection behind this...
