AION Classic roadmap and the fast update schedule

  • The focus is not on the game version, but on the catch up mechanism. We all know that AION has no catch-up mechanism. Whenever a new version is launched, new players will fall far behind others. New players cannot join and AFK players cannot return. The population will be decreasing.

That was never rly that big of a deal in these patches.. No matter how "ahead" somebody is there is still an endgoal in sight and that is full pvp gear which is not impossible to obtain in a reasonable time even as a f2p player. So everybody can close that gap. Hell you can get 30ap gear for a week or two and still be able to fight against full e50 people..

This became a problem only in later patches when they started adding more equipment like plumes and wings and crap that had to be enchanted too, enchantable accs too, removing the +15 cap on items etc. There you can't catch up at all and the whales become immortal to you no matter how much you outplay them.. Same as current retail - complete unplayable clusternyerk. Old Aion was balanced.

Okay, if you spend 6 hours or more per day, you may be able to catch up. However, the truth is that when you haven't finished the PVP set yet, new versions and new PVP equipment arrive. Because you must have enough tokens to exchange equipment, and the amount of these tokens obtained per day is limited. These tokens are the advantage of the old player. Not to mention that this game requires multiple sets of equipment with different attributes, which is an additional cost. Believe me, the endpoint you mentioned is not within reach for new player.

2.x brings so many more ways to gain ap though (tiak, kkm, eso++), people who didn't play since classic launch will catch up soon enough.

And why would you need to spend 6h+ for ap gain in current patch? Siege (10-15 min x2), dred (40 min if both sides have 0 gear and you clean all but more often than not it's more like 20 min), daily arena (11 min), roah/asteria (30 min - duo/trio/buy) and some ow pvp or guard farming if you feel like extending your ap farm. Obviously regroup time comes in addition, but I don't see how this is 6h+

Some people don't think these things are fun and skip some/all of them, but then you also kinda can't complain about gear gap idk

  • Could we have official feedback from GF ?

Are you(GF) planning to move with 2.7 or wait at least 6 months(give people to play good AION before destroying it, like NCSoft has already done it ) ?

  • To be honest. 3 months to release 2.0 is wayyyy too fast. NA took 1 year to release 2.0 is too long I agreed. How about 6 months? I think 6 month and release 2.0 is seem good. GF should do an ingame voting and lets the players decides...

NA didn't start on 1.9, no use to compare the two.

If you really want to, though: from 1.9 to 2.0 exactly 2 months passed. 3-4 months is reasonable enough, as 1.9 has little engaging PvE content, and flying PvP is not pleasant for many.

Serious question, have you ever played Aion?

Of course, I've been playing this game since 2009.

I'm baffled how you can make these statements then.

Yes it is in reach. For any player. You don't have to play "6h per day". And hell even if you had to - good. This is an MMORPG why should everyone get everything for free? You want to spend 30 minutes per day and have the best gear? Game is pointless then. This version of Aion is pretty balanced. Dunno why people complain about gearing up when it is definitely a lot easier than the current retail ridiculous version of Aion.

That is true, compared to whale version aka retail this still lot more balanced. Ok we do have some p2w but nothing compared to retail.
To be honest im not able to play much lately but still enjoying pvp even with my PvE gear.
Ofc going against some of the full pvp people that whaled or spend lots of hours a day ingame etc. can feel unfair but thats how it is ,if you dont take it too serious you can still have lot of fun especially if you have friends to do stuff with.

  • So you wanna stay in this version where you have crappy ways of getting AP and medals + the faction that doesn't have divine fort can't do dark poeta (the only real endgame instance) unless they log in at 4am to grab quest or pay a stupid amount of kinah for the 20 scales quest for longer? That is wild.

  • I think its way too soon to start increasing level cap>

Couple of suggestions relating to the current Classic game as problems exist that I remember very well from back in 2009:

    1) Reduce teleport costs. Simple flying about is boring to do, especially when questing, lessen the burden by reducing the cost to teleport.
    2) Reduce skill book costs. Players struggle as it is to make kinah, why punish them everytime they level up and new skills become available.

There is a reason why a lot of people had to resort to botting and buying kinah back in 2009 for the above 2 reasons alone, yet they still exist in this game. Crazy. Would have thought someone would have fixed that. A game is supposed to be fun, not a job!

i do indeed. people rushing from patch to patch can just play retail. and the freeloaders crying for tradable/free siels energy can just leave.

And boring people tying themselves to boring patches with little content can keep running said content in future patches and nothing more.

I wish I could but Gameforge doesn´t seem to be in any hurry to bring any new patches to retail........ and I don´t mean the upcoming 8.4.1 crap with 2 new transformations and a new amulette.....
